Email Access on DAKOTA / ANDROMEDA / ATLANTIS

This information is for DAKOTA, if you've been allocated ANDROMEDA or ATLANTIS then simply swap all occurrences of the server dakota.gen.net.uk with andromeda.gen.net.uk or atlantis.gen.net.uk

Email can be accessed using the Webmail Client available at:

https://dakota.gen.net.uk:20000

and logging in with your issued Username and Password. Usernames are generally your full email address, but this is not guaranteed for larger setup's or multihomed configurations. You should have been sent the login information for each account, but if not, or its not working then simply raise a case with the HelpDesk and they'll be able to reset it and confirm the credentials.

To use IMAP4/SMTP you will need to use

dakota.gen.net.uk:993
for IMAP4 - SSL/TLS - Normal Password
dakota.gen.net.uk:25
for SMTP - STARTTLS - Normal Password

(In the above the number after the : is the port number, i.e. 993 and 25)
If you wish to use unencrypted connections, then you can and use imap port 143.

You will use the same mailbox and password that you use for webmail to authenticate and you mush authenticate for both inbound (IMAP4) and outbound (SMTP).
