Frequently Asked Question
mimecast and Envelope blocked

So you're getting a permanent delivery failure and somewhere in the diagnostics you see
550 Envelope blocked
What this rather cryptic response is actually saying is that a mimecast user, probably the recipient or their company has specifically blocked your email address. Because this is a positive action its unlikely to resolve itself.
Mimecast has long been associated with spurious and cryptic email rejections so the information here is provided on an as-is basis. Contacting Mimecast, in our experience is pointless as you'll either receive an automated reply or nothing. Contact the recipient directly via telephone (because you can't email them) and ask them to escalate it to their IT.
