Frequently Asked Question
Mailing Lists (Mailman and MDaemon)
Last Updated 3 months ago
GEN has decided to discontinue further development and support for mailing list services based on Mailman on PVC and the legacy mdaemon lists.
This is because competitors are providing a very functional free service (15000 sends per month) and with all the features currently provided by our existing offering.
We can't bring any USP to this service, and ours isn't 'better' or 'faster' or even more 'secure'. We're competing with a free service that is just as good, and for this reason alone, we encourage customers to migrate to finch MailJet at renewal and the HelpDesk will of course assist with setup and migration.
In everything else, GEN is better, faster and more secure, just not on this specific service.
Any accounts still hosted on legacy systems simply to retain list functions, can be migrated free of charge to newer platforms, again with full support from the HelpDesk.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
